FOOD! One of the things I am passionate about!

Hurm.... where shall I begin?!
There is just so many types of food I like! (but not everything.....)
But, most of all, Malaysian food.
With the recent winning of Malaysian-born Catherine Chin Wan Ping Coombes in the UK Masterchef, I'm sure by now, many would have some idea of what Malaysian food are.
I'd have to say, Malaysian food have always been overshadowed by other kinds of Asian food such as Thais, Chinese, Indian & Pakistani (to name a few).
Perhaps, lack of intro was due to lack of the Malaysians effort itself in introducing the ever tasty local cuisine available in Malaysia.
In doing my part, I'd like to begin sharing my enthusiasm by introducing some of the famous local cuisine in Malaysia. Be sure to try these when you are in Malaysia!

NASI LEMAK

If translate directly, means "Fat rice" (Nasi = Rice, Lemak = Fat). The rice is cooked with coconut milk & the gravy is made from chilies & anchovies. The small fishes depicted here is dried anchovies, fried 'till crispy. (Picture courtesy from http://cutcaster.com/photo/100094980-Nasi-lemak/)

RENDANG

It can be chicken / meat. Mostly served during Eid celebration in Malaysia. It has plenty of ingredients in there and why it is one of the most sought after dish. Can be eaten with almost anything, you name it. (bread, rice, pasta, etc.)

LONTONG

The base ingredient is coconut milk with plenty of vegetables such as cabbage, long beans, carrot & fermented soy beans (tempe). Best eaten with "nasi impit".

Well, here are just some examples of Malaysian local cuisine. Wait for more of Malaysian local dishes in my next post!
